Howard opened the scoring stealing 1 in the first end, adding another steal in the second end. Howard and Clark traded singles in the next four ends leaving Howard with a 4-2 lead after 6 ends. Clark scored a single in the seventh end, with Howard scoring a single in the eighth end for the 5-3 win.
In the semifinals, Howard defeated Mark Bice (Sarnia, ON) 6-4 and Clark defeated Mark Kean (Woodstock, ON) 6-3. Kean and Bice earned $2,200CDN and 18.739 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Howard defeated Dale Kelly (Chatham, ON) 7-3, Clark defeated Todd Birr (Blaine, USA) 6-2, while Bice defeated Richard Krell (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) 5-3 and Kean defeated Wayne Tuck Jr. (, Strathroy, ON) 5-4. Howard went 3-2 in the 20 team triple knockout qualifying round.
